In the Round at Wentworth Brown

A new series is coming to Wentworth Brown in 2027. The Rough & Tumble (Mallory Graham & Scott Tyler) will be hosting a monthly songwriters-in-the-round series in the historic building. Each month, The Rough & Tumble and two additional professionally touring acts will perform in the Nashville-style writing round, wherein each act takes a turn to play a song, discuss its origin, and even play along with the other performers in an intimate style and setting. This form of song sharing is an integral part of the larger music industry, and a favorite for audiences to get a sneak peek behind the life and work of the artist.

The series will bring in the entertainment of nationally known musicians. The Rough & Tumble are collaborating with local organization Music Helps to offer an educational component. Selected applicants of students from the community will learn what it takes to run the show, all under the experience and guidance of The Rough & Tumble. They will learn hospitality, booking, sound engineering, marketing, and stagecraft over the year, resulting in a final December performance to be entirely student run.

This new series — In the Round at Wentworth Brown — is a program reaching both inward to and outward from the community, celebrating art, collaboration, education, and growth. Audiences can expect each one to be a special occasion worthy of putting the full season on the calendar– and some damn fine songs. More information on tickets and season passes will be available soon. Keep your ears open.
